The 2009 Frost & Sullivan European WWT Green Product of the Year Award is presented to
aeropec icorporation for its innovative green solutions to the WWT industry. This Award
recognises the best practices followed by the company in developing its patented pending
defoamer aeropec™ 253
High TOC and low biodegradability has been the most widely used defoamers in many WWT
applications. However, it presents various operational problems and is regarded as
environmentally hazardous in many European countries. With its unique formulation,
aeropec™ 253 is an ideal alternative to High TOC and low biodegradability defoamers and
has gained considerable popularity in the WWT industry.
“aeropec™ 253 uses an entirely different chemistry from current alternatives. The product is
mixture of medium chain polyols together with surface active materials,” explains Frost &
Sullivan Research Analyst Barbara Taylor. “It can be diluted in water to form a homogenous
and stable aqueous emulsion. In comparision with High TOC, aeropec™ 253 can be used at
much lower dosage rates and complies with many important statutory regulations.
The excellent cost efficiency, coupled with excellent compatability and beneficial
environmental profile, has resulted in aeropec™ 253 emerging as a better and more
effective green solution for the WWT industry.
“Moreover, in addition to its excellent foam control properties, aeropec™ 253 offers
additional benefits to the user including easy handling even at extreme temperatures and
excellent, low dosage, stable ready to use aqueous emulsion” states Taylor.
The product has been widely accepted in Europe as it has proved to be a perfect alternative
to high TOC in WWT applications. Regulatory threats and other occupational hazards arising
from the use of high TOC have been key to escalating the acceptance level of aeropec™ 253
in Europe. The product has gained wide acceptance in Asian and American markets as well..
The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product of the Year is presented each year to the company
that has demonstrated excellence in new product development and launch within its
industry. The recipient company has shown innovation by launching a broad line of
emerging products and technologies.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and
global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in
